At the initiative of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called "Slovenian Scientific Excellence: Linking Slovenian R & D to the world" Centres of Excellence will present its activity. Centre of Excellence NAMASTE presented its activity. Dr. Alenka Rožaj Brvar, Managing Director presented Centre of Excellence NAMASTE.

9th Nanotechnology Day was held on Gospodarsko razstavišče in Ljubljana. Sponsors of the event were Centre of Excellence NAMASTE and Nanocenter. Interest in the 9th Nanotechnology day was exceptional. Dr. Alenka Rožaj Brvar presented Centre of Excellence NAMASTE. Minister Žiga Turk and Director of the National Institute of Chemistry Prof. Janko Jamnik attended the event.

Award for Jun-ici Fukuda and Slobodan Žumer for outstanding paper
Authors dr. Jun-ici Fukuda and prof. dr. Slobodan Žumer are awarded by the Japanese Liquid Crystal Society for outstanding paper on liquid crystals titled "Quasi-two-dimensional Skyrmion lattices in a chiral nematic liquid crystal".
Paper was published in Nature communications, 2011, vol. 2, art. no. 246, page 5.

Slovenian company Iskra Zaščite and German company Weidmüller sign joint venture
The Slovenian specialist for surge protection, Iskra Zaščite, and the German expert for electrical connectivity and electronics, Weidmüller, have signed a joint venture agreement in Ljubljana. The agreement includes the building of a new production site in Brežice (Slovenia), as well as the development cooperation with Iskra Zaščite and production of innovative solutions for surge protection. The joint venture will in future trade under the name Weidmüller & IZ Surge Protection Products.

Chamber of Commerce granted national awards for innovation, awarded also NAMASTE consortium partners
Chamber of Commerce reward innovative companies and innovators from business and public research institutions on the 10th anniversary of Innovation Day on Brdo pri Kranju., has received four degrees, 6 bronze, 28 silver and 7 gold awards. Among the recipients of the awards for the innovation, created in 2011, are the partners of the consortium NAMASTE.
Gold Award recipient is Eti d.d. for Innovation "A new dimension of protection in electrical system of protection devices 1"
Silver awards recipients for innovation are:
- Helios d.o.o., in cooperation with the Kolektor Nanotesla Institute and University of Maribor for the developed coating, which absorbs electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range of 400 mega-and 10 gigahertz.
- Eti d.d. for the innovation "A new dimension of protection in electrical system of protection devices 2 (KZS-4M)"
- Iskra Avtoelektrika d.d. for the innovation "Solar micro inverter"
The recipient of a bronze award is Iskra Avtoelektrika d.d. for innovation "Frequency converter for hybrid vehicles."

Celje
Obrtna zbornica Slovenije - OZS (The Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia) a new member of the CoE NAMASTE consortium together with CoE presented at the 45th International Trade Fair (MOS) held in Celje.
Science and Technology Committee of OZS together with partners (Jožef Stefan Institute, University of Maribor, et al.) received a special award for integrating the economy and science and overall fair presentation of new technologies and technological processes.

Glenn H. Brown Prize to dr. Uroš Tkalec for the best doctoral dissertation
Dr. Uroš Tkalec, research associate at Center of Excellence NAMASTE has been awarded the 2012 Glenn H. Brown Prize by the International Liquid Crystal Society for the outstanding Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Colloidal interactions and novel colloidal structures in thin nematic layers". He wins this prestigeous award for the beautiful, insightful, and precise merging, both experimentally and theoretically, of low dimensional topology with defect structures in liquid crystalline colloids. He received the award at 24th International Liquid Crystal Conference in August in Mainz, Germany.

Darko Belavič presented contribution titled »Ceramic pressure sensors and cooling systems« (Marija Kosec, Janez Holc, Hana Ursic and Darko Belavič from the Electronic ceramics department of the Jožef Stefan Institute) at conference SPOT 2012 held in Nova Gorica.
During the conference CoE along with two members of the consortium HYB d.o.o. and Iskraemeco d.d. presented at the exhibition space.

There were 28 lecturers (10 from industry) and 82 participants’ attended (56 participants from research organizations, 22 participants from industry, 2 participants from Slovenian Technology Agency and 2 students).
